Where SotaProxy wins

Wider geo coverage

SotaProxy covers 220+ countries. IPRoyal covers fewer locations for residential proxies.

Where {name} wins

Cheaper datacenter IPs

IPRoyal's IPv4 datacenter pricing is competitive for bulk purchases.

Established marketplace reputation

IPRoyal has been operating longer with more public reviews and community presence.

Bottom line

SotaProxy has an edge in mobile proxies, geo coverage, and residential pool quality. IPRoyal is worth comparing on datacenter pricing for bulk IPv4 purchases. Both are suitable for most scraping and automation use cases.

Three things that break on the way over

The table above covers syntax. These are the failures that appear after it. Formats on both sides change without notice, so take exact values from the dashboard rather than from any article.

Session and lifetime are two separate suffixes

The session id and how long it is held are set independently here: _s_ for the identifier and _ttl_ for the duration. Merging them into one parameter is the usual first mistake.

Traffic that does not expire is a tie, not an advantage

Both sides keep your gigabytes while the package is active. It is worth checking rather than assuming, but it is not a reason to move on its own.

Static addresses are a different host, not a different plan

ISP and datacenter addresses arrive as an IP with port 50100 and accept no suffixes. Code that builds usernames has to stop doing that for them.

Moving your connection strings across

Both services take a login and password and encode targeting in the username, so a migration is mostly find and replace. Here is the mapping, part by part:

Endpoint

geo.iproyal.com:12321

proxy.sotaproxy.com:10000

Country targeting

_country-us

login_c_US

Sticky session

_session-abc123

_s_123_ttl_15m

Session lifetime

_lifetime-30m

_ttl_30s, _ttl_15m or _ttl_1h

Provider formats change without notice. Take the exact prefix from your IPRoyal dashboard and map the parts, rather than copying a string from a blog post.

What the same job costs here

IPRoyal encodes options after the password rather than in the username, which is the one part of the migration that needs care. Everything else maps directly:

Residential traffic here
$1.00 per GB
Traffic expiry
none while the package is active
Static addresses on the same account
ISP from $1.90, datacenter from $1.15 per month
Mobile
from $5.76 per day, with carrier choice

The two services sit close on price. The difference shows up in what else is on the account: we sell static, mobile and residential from one balance with one API, which matters once your setup outgrows a single proxy type.

Who should stay, who should switch

You use their royal residential pool for a specific geography

Pool composition differs by country, and if their coverage works for your target, that is a real reason to stay.

You are happy with the lifetime parameter

Their arbitrary session lifetimes are more flexible than our three fixed values.

You need more than residential

Static, mobile and residential share one balance and one API here.

You want AI agents to run purchases

Our MCP server lets Claude or another agent check the balance, buy traffic and pull credentials.

Common questions

Which is better for web scraping, SotaProxy or IPRoyal?

Both work well for scraping. SotaProxy's wider geo coverage and mobile proxy availability give it an edge for international and mobile-targeted scraping tasks.

Do both providers accept crypto?

Yes. Both SotaProxy and IPRoyal accept cryptocurrency payments.

Does SotaProxy have more countries than IPRoyal?

SotaProxy covers 220+ countries with city-level targeting on residential pools. Both providers have broad coverage, but SotaProxy's emphasis on mobile and international geo-targeting gives it an edge for region-specific tasks.

Which is cheaper, SotaProxy or IPRoyal?

Pricing is close on entry residential traffic, and neither imposes a monthly minimum. SotaProxy adds a first-order discount with promo code WELCOME10, so the effective starting cost is lower for new users.

Do both offer mobile proxies?

Yes, both offer mobile proxies. SotaProxy provides 4G/LTE carrier IPs with the highest trust scores, which are well suited to social media automation and other platforms that aggressively block datacenter and residential IPs.

Can I switch from IPRoyal to SotaProxy easily?

Yes. Both use standard HTTP and SOCKS5 proxy authentication. Update the host, port, and credentials in your tool - no code changes are required to migrate from IPRoyal to SotaProxy.
