Elite Proxy
A high-anonymity proxy that hides your real IP and sends no headers revealing that a proxy is in use.
An elite proxy - also called a high-anonymity proxy - is the highest anonymity level. It hides your real IP address and sends no headers that reveal a proxy is involved. To the target server, the request looks like it comes directly from an ordinary user at the proxy's IP, with nothing to indicate an intermediary.
This matters because anti-bot systems inspect request headers for proxy signals. A transparent proxy leaks your real IP; an anonymous proxy hides your IP but exposes a Via header; an elite proxy strips both. Only elite proxies pass the header test cleanly, which is why they are the standard for scraping and automation against protected targets.
Anonymity level is independent of IP type but they work together. An elite residential proxy combines a trusted residential IP with clean headers - the strongest combination for avoiding blocks. An elite datacenter proxy has clean headers but still exposes a datacenter ASN, which sophisticated sites can detect regardless of anonymity level.
Always verify anonymity before relying on a proxy for sensitive work. A proxy checker routes a request through the proxy to a header-echo service and reports whether any real-IP or proxy-identifying headers leaked, classifying the result as elite, anonymous, or transparent.
The top of a three-level scale
The traditional classification sorts proxies by which headers reach the destination. Transparent passes your address and announces itself. Anonymous hides your address but still announces that a proxy was used. Elite, also called high anonymity, adds nothing at all.
From the destination's perspective an elite proxy produces a request that looks like it originated at the exit address. There is no X-Forwarded-For, no Via, no Proxy-Connection to give the arrangement away.
The scale is old and covers exactly one layer. It says nothing about what the address itself reveals, and address class is the check most sites apply first. An elite proxy on a hosting address is transparent in the way that actually matters.
Elite by default, and what it does not cover
All four of our products are elite. What decides your outcome is usually the layer below:
The layers, in order of what sites check
1. Address class (ASN) -> residential, ISP or mobile
2. TLS fingerprint -> real browser or impersonation library
3. Header order and shape -> real browser
4. Headers we might add -> none, this is the elite part
5. Behaviour and rate -> pacing and more addresses- Verify the headers once with a header echo service. It is the only proof that a provider's anonymity claim is true.
- An elite datacenter address is still a datacenter address. Sites that filter on ASN never read your headers.
- WebRTC and DNS leaks sit outside the header layer entirely and need separate handling.
- For account work, elite headers are table stakes. Fingerprint and cookie isolation is where the work actually is.
Why elite is oversold
Elite is a baseline, not an advantage
Any competent provider is elite. It is not a differentiator worth paying extra for.
It does not hide the address class
The registry lookup happens before headers are considered.
Free lists claim it routinely
Many inject headers anyway. Test rather than trust the label.
It says nothing about your client
A Python TLS fingerprint through an elite proxy is still a Python TLS fingerprint.
The three levels side by side
The scale is about which headers a proxy adds to your request. That is all it has ever measured.
| Level | Headers it adds | What the destination learns | Where you meet it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transparent | X-Forwarded-For and Via, carrying your address | Your real address, and that a proxy was involved | Corporate and provider caches, most free lists |
| Anonymous | Via or Proxy-Connection, no address | That a proxy is in the path, but not who is behind it | Older commercial proxies, some free lists |
| Elite, also called high anonymity | Neither | An ordinary client connection | Any serious commercial provider, ours included |
This taxonomy comes from an era when headers were how you got caught. A site that scores visitors today looks at the address class, the TLS fingerprint and how the session behaves, and none of those is touched by being elite. Read the scale as a minimum to clear rather than as a feature to buy.
Questions people actually type
What is an elite proxy?
A proxy that forwards your request without adding headers that reveal either your address or the fact a proxy exists. The destination sees what looks like an ordinary client. It is the top of a three-level scale whose other rungs are anonymous and transparent.
What is the difference between elite, anonymous and transparent?
Only which headers get added. Transparent sends your address in X-Forwarded-For and announces itself with Via. Anonymous drops your address but still announces the proxy. Elite sends neither. Nothing else about the connection differs, which is why the scale matters less than it sounds.
Is an elite proxy the same as a private proxy?
No, and the two get advertised together constantly. Elite describes headers. Private describes who else uses the address. An address can be elite and shared with a hundred people, or dedicated to you and transparent. Ask which one the seller actually means.
Does an elite proxy mean I will not be detected?
No. It removes one of the oldest signals and leaves every modern one untouched. If the address is registered to a hosting provider, a site that checks address class sees that regardless of headers. Your client also gives itself away through its TLS handshake and its behaviour, neither of which the proxy controls.
How do I check a proxy anonymity level?
Send a request through it to a service that echoes the headers it received and read what arrived. If X-Forwarded-For carries your address it is transparent, if Via is present without your address it is anonymous, if neither appears it is elite.
Are free elite proxies real?
The label is claimed on free lists routinely and means little there, because nothing stops a list from writing it. Free proxies also fail on the parts the scale never covered: the address is usually a data centre one that has been used by thousands of people, which is what actually gets you blocked.
