Прозорий проксі перехоплює ваше з’єднання без жодного налаштування з вашого боку й без приховування реального IP. Він стоїть у розриві мережі - часто в школі, офісі чи в провайдера - і обробляє трафік у міру проходження. Цільовий сервер усе ще бачить ваш вихідний IP через передані заголовки, тож прозорий проксі не дає анонімності.
Такі проксі використовують для контролю та ефективності, а не приватності: фільтрація контенту (блокування категорій сайтів), кешування (віддача популярного контенту локально задля економії трафіку) і моніторинг (логування того, що проходить). Зазвичай ви не знаєте про прозорий проксі, поки сторінка блокування вам про це не повідомить.
У термінології анонімності «прозорий» - найнижчий із трьох рівнів. Прозорий проксі передає ваш реальний IP у заголовках на кшталт X-Forwarded-For та ідентифікує себе через Via. Анонімний проксі приховує ваш IP, але видає використання проксі. Elite-проксі приховує і те, і інше - ціль не може визначити ні ваш реальний IP, ні наявність проксі.

The proxy you did not ask for
A transparent proxy intercepts traffic without any configuration on the client. Networks deploy them by redirecting outbound connections at the router, so the client believes it is talking directly to the destination while something in the middle handles the request.
They are transparent in two senses that get confused. The client is not configured, and the destination can usually tell: these proxies typically add X-Forwarded-For and Via headers announcing both that a proxy was used and who is behind it.
Hotels, airports, schools and corporate networks use them for caching, filtering and logging. They are the reason a connection sometimes behaves oddly on public wifi in ways that have nothing to do with your own setup.
Why nothing we sell is transparent

- If you are on a network with a transparent proxy, your own proxy still works: your traffic is proxied twice, with extra latency.
- Transparent interception is also why a corporate network can break TLS: they install a certificate so the middlebox can read traffic.
- A transparent proxy at the network level explains header oddities you cannot reproduce from another connection.
Where the term misleads
Transparent does not mean invisible
It is invisible to the client and usually obvious to the destination.
It is not something you buy
It is something a network operator deploys around you.
It is not useful for anonymity
It typically announces your real address in a header.
Not every unexplained block is a transparent proxy
Test from another network before concluding your traffic is being intercepted.
