The first: Armenian writing uses its own punctuation, so code that splits text on a full stop or looks for a question mark at the end of a sentence behaves wrongly here. The second: a considerable share of the audience of Armenian sites is not in Armenia, so a local exit shows you the domestic part of the picture rather than all of it.

Connection strings for Armenia
The country code is AM, upper case. The city goes after it with _city_, hyphens instead of spaces, in the order country, city, session, lifetime.
Armenian static addresses take no suffixes: the host is the IP from your dashboard, port 50100, SOCKS5 on 50101.

The first feature, and it breaks text processing more quietly than blocking breaks collection.
Armenian writing uses its own set of marks. A sentence ends with a mark that looks like a colon rather than a full stop. Questions and exclamations are shown by marks placed above a vowel inside the word rather than at the end of the phrase. There are separate marks for abbreviations and for emphasis.
What follows. Splitting text into sentences on a full stop does not work at all here: there are no full stops at the ends of sentences. Detecting questions by a mark at the end of a line finds nothing, even though the text contains questions. A tokeniser that treats those marks above letters as noise and strips them changes what the word says.
Sorting adds to it. The Armenian alphabet has its own order, and sorting by character codes produces a sequence that looks random to a reader. If you are showing lists to people, use locale-aware comparison rather than byte order.
The practical conclusion: do not reuse cleaning rules written for Latin text on Armenian. Normalise Unicode, keep the marks, and find sentence boundaries by the Armenian punctuation rather than by the full stop.
Much of the audience lives outside the country
The second feature, and it concerns what exactly you are measuring.
The Armenian diaspora is large relative to the population, and a noticeable share of visitors to Armenian sites arrive from abroad. For those platforms it is routine: property listings are viewed from outside, news is read from outside, and some purchases are made for relatives inside the country.
What that means for collection. An Armenian exit shows you the domestic picture: the prices, offers and advertising a person in Yerevan sees. That is the right and necessary point, but it does not describe a site’s whole audience.
If your question is "what does a visitor to this site see", one Armenian address is not enough. Add an exit in a country where a significant part of the diaspora lives and compare: ad blocks and offers there can differ, because campaigns are frequently split by visitor geography.
If the question is "what is happening in the Armenian market", the Armenian address is sufficient and nothing needs adding. The difference between those two questions is what usually gets confused here.
What actually blocks you on Armenian targets
The familiar split, with a local amendment for size.
list.am and the retail platforms filter hosting ranges: expect a 403 from datacenter and plan for residential.
Publishers and government sites serve datacenter addresses normally.
Search results are reachable but rate limited per address, and in a pool this size that limit arrives sooner than usual.
On the country’s main platform what cuts you is frequency rather than address class: lower the pace before you hit the wall.
Which exits you get here, and how stable they are
The Armenian pool in practical terms.
The pool is small: a country of three million people, with most addresses in Yerevan.
Line quality in the capital is good and more mixed outside it. Do not shorten the thirty second timeout.
Response times from Europe are longer than the map suggests: traffic transits neighbouring countries.
City targeting is nearly always unnecessary here: it cuts an already small pool, and country level lands you in the capital anyway.
Sticky sessions hold an address for up to fifty minutes, and default rotation changes it on every request.
Choosing the type for an Armenian target
The usual order.
- Start with an Armenian datacenter address: $1.15 per address per month. On publishers and reference sites that is enough.
- A 403 on the first request means hosting ranges are filtered. Move to country-level residential.
- On the main classifieds platform plan a low pace from the outset: what it cuts is frequency.
- If the job has to run on one address, add a sticky session with a lifetime.
- Ask for a city only when comparing Yerevan against the regions, and expect a country-level fallback.
What Armenian sites check beyond the address
An Armenian address opens the first gate; language and text parsing decide the rest.
Send hy-AM. Russian and English versions are common here, and without an explicit header you will happily collect the wrong catalogue.
The currency is the dram, written ֏ or AMD, with large nominal amounts. Range-check your parsing results: being out by an order of magnitude looks plausible here.
The time zone is UTC+4 with no daylight saving, the same as Georgia. European neighbours do change their clocks, so the offset against them shifts twice a year for reasons that are not local.
Consent banners are less common than in the EU, but a language choice on first visit is remembered in a cookie, after which you collect the same version consistently.
What a month of Armenian work costs
Three scenarios at our prices, so you have something to check a quote against.
- A pass over classifieds and retail, 8,000 listings a day with images blocked, roughly 90 KB per page. That is about 0.7 GB a day, around 21 GB a month: $21 on residential.
- A second exit for the diaspora adds volume only where you are genuinely comparing advertising and offers, not across the whole catalogue.
- If the targets are neutral, the same collection on ten datacenter addresses costs $13.50 a month.
The legal part, stated plainly
Armenia is not in the European Union, and GDPR does not apply here directly. Its own personal data protection legislation does, and collecting data that identifies people in Armenia is governed by it regardless of where your company sits.
