MAP Compliance

The violation is only visible from the buyer’s side.

A seller who breaks your minimum advertised price rarely shows it on the listing. It appears in the cart, for one country, to a shopper who looks local.

Чому проксі вирішують цю задачу

Price enforcement fails when the check happens from headquarters. Marketplace listings, seller storefronts and promotional prices are assembled per country, and the common way to break a price floor is to keep the listing compliant while the real number appears later in the flow. Both problems need an address in the market you are policing.

Проблеми без проксі

The listing price is not the quoted price

Discount codes, cart-level reductions and "add to basket to see price" all keep the visible listing compliant. Catching that requires walking further into the flow, from one address, as a shopper would.

Violations are regional

A distributor respecting the floor in one country undercuts it in another, and often only in the local-language storefront. Checking from one market finds one market’s violations.

Evidence has to be reproducible

A screenshot without a country, a timestamp and a session that hangs together is an argument, not evidence. Enforcement conversations go better with a record that can be re-run.

Як це вирішує SotaProxy

Residential addresses in 220+ countries with sticky sessions long enough to walk from listing to cart, so the price you record is the price a local buyer is quoted, with country and time stored as fields.

1

List the markets you actually enforce in

Enforcement is contractual and territorial. Collecting a country where you have no agreement produces findings nobody can act on.

2

Walk past the listing

Open the product, apply the visible promotion, reach the cart. Use one sticky session so the steps belong to one shopper rather than three.

3

Record what the buyer would pay

Store the listing price and the quoted price as separate fields. The gap between them is the finding, and collapsing them into one number destroys it.

4

Keep country and timestamp on every row

Both are what make the record re-runnable. A price without them cannot be defended two weeks later.

Eight markets, four hundred listings

MAP checks are deeper per item than price monitoring, because the flow does not stop at the listing:

400 listings, 8 countries, 3 steps each, twice a week
about 76,800 page loads a month
At 120 KB per step with media blocked
about 9 GB
Residential at $1.00 per GB
about $9 per month
Stopping at the listing instead
a third of the traffic and most of the misses

The extra steps triple the traffic and cost single-digit dollars. That is the entire price of seeing the number a buyer is actually quoted.

From listing to cart on one address

One session per product, the local language, and both prices recorded:

Walking to the quoted price

# one shopper, one country, for the whole flow
S="login_c_FR_s_64_ttl_50m:password@proxy.sotaproxy.com:10000"

curl -s -x $S -H "Accept-Language: fr-FR" \
  "https://marketplace.example/product/9001" -o listing.html

curl -s -x $S -H "Accept-Language: fr-FR" \
  "https://marketplace.example/cart/add?sku=9001" -o cart.html

# record where the shopper was standing
curl -s -x $S https://ipinfo.io/json | grep -iE "country|region"
  • Keep listing price and quoted price in separate columns; a single price column cannot express the violation.
  • Store the currency as its own field. A price in the wrong currency reads as a breach that never happened.
  • Re-run a finding before escalating it. Promotions expire, and an expired promotion is not a violation.

Three ways an enforcement case falls apart

Checking from headquarters

The storefront looks compliant because it is compliant in your country. The market where the floor is broken is the one nobody checked.

Stopping at the listing price

The listing stays above the floor and the cart does not. A crawl that never adds to basket reports clean months on a market that is breaching weekly.

Evidence without country or time

Two weeks later the price has changed and the screenshot proves nothing. Country, timestamp and the session that produced them are what make the record worth having.

Поширені запитання

How is this different from price monitoring?

Price monitoring watches competitors to set your own price. MAP compliance watches your own distribution for breaches of a floor you set. The collection looks similar and the question is the opposite one.

Why does the session have to be sticky?

Because the violation usually lives past the listing. If the address changes between the product page and the cart, the cart belongs to a different shopper and the evidence falls apart.

Do I need every country?

Only the ones where you have an agreement to enforce. That list is usually much shorter than the list of countries where your product is sold.

Can you guarantee access to a marketplace?

No. We sell addresses, and a marketplace decides for itself what to serve. What an address changes is which market you are shown, not whether a platform lets you in.
